Microsoft to Accelerate PC Gaming! NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel Step In

Ana sayfa / Windows

Microsoft announced they are working on a new Windows API that will allow game developers to seamlessly integrate super resolution AI-enhancement features of Nvidia, AMD, and Intel into their games.

According to program manager Joshua Tucker, Microsoft’s new DirectSR API is the “missing link” between games and super resolution technologies, promising a “smoother and more efficient experience scalable across various hardware.”

The DirectSR API provides a common input and output set to enable various solutions like Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution, AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution, and Intel XeSS. The goal is for developers to support this DirectSR API instead of writing separate codes for each enhancement technology.

Microsoft Windows delegates boring tasks to Copilot with latest update.

Microsoft Windows has introduced a new update to enhance Copilot with a plugin called Power Automate. What will it be used for?

A few weeks ago, the “Automatic Super Resolution” feature was spotted in a Windows 11 test release. This feature promised smoother gameplay and enhanced details for supported games through AI. Now, it appears this feature will connect to existing super resolution technologies like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS.

Microsoft states that the new API will soon be available through a preview version of the Agility SDK. Additionally, a “sneak peek” on how to use DirectSR is scheduled for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) on March 21, where representatives from Microsoft, Nvidia, and AMD will also be present.

With this new move, Microsoft could bring significant innovations in graphics and performance for PC games. What are your thoughts on this development? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section below.
